1. Information We Collect

When you use HouseWell, we collect information you provide directly to us:

  • Account information: name, email address, and password when you register
  • Home profile data: address, year built, home type, and system details you enter
  • Task and maintenance history: tasks you create, complete, or snooze
  • Documents you upload to the Document Vault
  • Usage data: pages visited, features used, and actions taken in the app

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and personalize the HouseWell service, including your maintenance calendar and home health score
  • Send you monthly email digests and task reminders (if you opt in)
  • Auto-fill your home profile using publicly available property records
  • Improve our product, fix bugs, and develop new features
  • Respond to your support requests and communicate with you about your account
  • Process payments and manage your subscription

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Service providers: We use third-party services to operate the platform, including Stripe (web payment processing), RevenueCat (mobile subscription management), RentCast and ATTOM (property data lookup — your home address is sent to retrieve public records), Sentry (error monitoring), and AWS (infrastructure). Each provider has its own privacy policy.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights of HouseWell or its users.
  • Business transfers: If HouseWell is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

4. Data Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest) to protect your data. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel only.

5. Data Retention & Account Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, or delete specific data — including individual tasks, documents, appliances, and home profiles — without deleting your full account. If you choose to delete your account, your profile, homes, tasks, documents, and appliances will be permanently removed within 30 days.

To delete your account, open the HouseWell app, navigate to Settings → Account → Delete Account and confirm deletion. If you need assistance, contact support@housewell.app.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request a copy of your personal data by contacting privacy@housewell.app
  • Correct inaccurate information in your account
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Opt out of marketing emails at any time

7. Cookies

We use a single session cookie (sid) to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels.
