How to do it โ step by step
Turn off the spa at the breaker. Attach a submersible pump or garden hose to the drain fitting and empty the tub. Clean the shell with a non-abrasive spa cleaner and rinse thoroughly. Remove and rinse each filter cartridge with a filter cleaner โ soak overnight every 3 months. Refill with fresh water and add a startup chemical kit: adjust pH (7.4โ7.6), alkalinity (80โ120 ppm), and sanitizer (3โ5 ppm chlorine or 30โ50 ppm bromine). Run jets for 15 minutes to purge the plumbing lines before adding sanitizer. Stale water harbors bacteria (including Legionella) that no amount of chemicals can fully remediate โ fresh water every 3โ4 months is non-negotiable.
