Inspect Exterior Siding and Paint

Walk around the house and look for: peeling or blistering paint (sign of moisture intrusion), cracks in siding or stucco, gaps at trim joints, and soft/spongy wood at the base of wall sections. Pay special attention where roof lines meet walls and around windows. Catching a small rot pocket costs $200 to repair; missing it for 2–3 years can require siding replacement at $8,000–$15,000. If painting, prime bare wood first and use 100% acrylic exterior paint for maximum durability.
