How to do it — step by step
Turn off all power at the breaker. Drain the spa completely using a submersible pump. Use a shop-vac or wet-dry vacuum to blow out each jet orifice for 30 seconds to purge water from the plumbing. Do the same for the suction fittings. Loosen the union fittings at the pump to drain any remaining water. Remove and store the filter cartridge indoors. Clean the shell and cover. If you live in a freeze-prone climate and plan to use the spa year-round, keep it running at the lowest temperature setting (95°F) with the cover on — this is cheaper than freeze damage. Freeze damage to a spa's plumbing and shell typically costs $500–$3,000 to repair.
